New Year, New Start, New Blog Theme

Hi all. I haven’t been writing much here but lots in my journals and computer as I go through a new awakening. My aim this year is to bring this web site to full bloom. That includes making it look like I want. If you liked the lotus template I had before, sorry, but it wasn’t what I really want to express. While I like my site to look good, I felt it was to much of a superficial, pretty presentation and was distracting from the content that I want to present.

That is really the message we all need to get in life: looks aren’t everything, but keep yourself presentable. So down comes the pretty lotus picture and now you have a blog template that I really like. I designed it myself, to have a rich, slightly zen look, spare of prettiness yet comfortable to look at.

Healing Inner and Outer Pain – Part 3 of 3

I am always doing inner work in other areas, too, so it wasn’t just the sciatica motivating me, but it did give me more concrete motivation. This inner work, rather than chiropractic or anything else, actually led to the greatest improvement in my pain condition.

The greatest reduction of my actual physical pain came when I was sitting in contemplation and there came a moment when I was able to forgive my father for something – I don’t recall what – and my sciatica pain immediately Read the rest of this entry »

A Surprise “Ending” to Agony – Part 2 of 3

One all important experience occurred on a day off from work, when my pain was so severe all I could do was lay on my bedroom floor in agony. I think I was laying there for over an hour, trying to position myself in such a way that the pain would perhaps be less. It seemed nothing I could do was working. It tried all sorts of positions, both physical and mental, enduring, feeling forgiving, crying and even begging God. Maybe that helped.

A Pain-free Life – Part 1 of 3

Physical pain is a big issue for a lot of people. We hear about many entertainers and actors who have admitted to becoming addicted to pain medication due to back injuries or other sorts of problems. Careful pain management is an important part of their recovery, and there are of course numerous approaches to both pain management and to healing the cause of the pain. Unfortunately, many people lack the time or money to obtain the best care and either end up with chronic pain, or drug dependency after the actual pain is gone.

Compassion: A Gateway Virtue

In our times we may feel like we are finding more and more need to do something inwardly to remedy the increasing pressures and stresses of our outward life and world. As spiritually oriented persons we understand the need for change within ourselves so that we may live in more peace within our own lives and also to contribute more peace to the world. We see our own issues and know we need to forgive and love more. That is the task of our lives: to love and accept love. Yet we find there is a barrier or gap we must cross in order to get there. Our recalcitrant egos don’t seem to want to easily let go of grievances and grief. We need some way of getting through.

Are You Out of Control? Feel Unsupported?

Today I had an interesting little adventure. I went to a sports superstore and bought a pair of orthotic arch supports for my shoes. I spent about a half hour trying the several different types. The ones recommended by the sales agent weren’t to my liking, and I bought one that felt more like the expensive ones I had tried at Goodfeet, but these were only 27.95 instead of 200.00.

Are You Doing a Hancock?

Today I finally rented the movie Hancock, which is about a bum of guy with superhuman powers who gets a makeover. If you’ve seen it you will get all the references in this post. Is he from another planet? He doesn’t know, as he’s had amnesia since he woke up in a hospital some years ago. Sound familiar?

It should. It’s you and me. It’s all of us. We woke up in a hospital some years ago, not knowing anything about who we really are, and have been dabbling in our superhuman metaphysical-spiritual powers, but still Read the rest of this entry »

Prosperity Awareness Month

(Originally published in January of 2009)

I just got an email from a wonderful friend of mine reminding us this is Poverty in America Awareness Month. I applaud her for her continual efforts to act on her heartfelt vision for the betterment of the world. She is far above average even in the world of spirituality.

Her email urges the reader to donate to those in need of food and other things, and I am inspired to add to what she forwarded. The email reads: Read the rest of this entry »

How do Anti-depressants Produce Suicidal Thoughts?

We often hear warnings of certain medications that are made for alleviating depression causing in some people thoughts of suicide when we would expect them to do the opposite. Suicide is clearly what one would expect of the depressed. Why would this happen?

How to Free Yourself from Your Mistakes

Often times when you make a mistake or seem to fail to maintain a higher quality you are aiming at spiritually, in an outward or inward goal, you will find yourself feeling bad about it. Of course, we are taught to forgive and move on, having learned something – we hope – but we also may assume that we have set ourselves on a lesser course in that instance. You may find yourself thinking, “What have I done to myself now!” and think you have missed the boat and can’t regain the ground you lost.
